Bringing the world (of engineering education) to Canada

McMaster University’s Faculty of Engineering has been selected as host for the 2017 Global Engineering Deans Conference, GEDC2017. We are very pleased to invite engineering deans from around the world to Niagara Falls, Canada in October 2017.

Canada is my adopted country.  I’ve quickly come to realize that it is more than a land of hockey and snow.  It values intellectual freedom, diversity and multiculturalism, and is driven by forward-thinking innovators, humility and social responsibility. The values of Canada are the values of McMaster Engineering.

We are committed to cutting-edge research and world-class education with a social conscience. We educate students in a deliberately inclusive manner with a focus on experiential and problem-based learning, and self-directed inquiry.

Our mission is purposeful and clear: To think globally and act locally to solve the grand challenges facing our communities. And so, at McMaster Engineering, we believe in excellence and innovation and inspiring engaged citizen scholars who will transform the world.

That’s why we’re extremely pleased that the world is coming to us in 2017 in Niagara Falls for a sensational event with first class venues, breath taking scenery and memorable experiences. Of course, a McMaster-hosted conference can be expected to offer more than spectacular sight seeing. It will facilitate important discussions about engineering education, research and outreach.

As one of the world’s Top 100 universities, McMaster’s leading faculty members and exceptional students are thought leaders. We will bring together the top minds in engineering education from around our world to discuss issues of importance: From smart systems to biomedical engineering and innovation to engaging local communities and nurturing entrepreneurship.

We look forward to welcoming the world to Canada and McMaster University.

See you soon!
